UsableLabs โครงการระบบออนไลน์เพื่อการจัดการความรู้สุขภาวะ

บนพื้นฐานของความพยายามที่จะลดความเหลื่อมล้ำทางความรู้ให้มีช่องว่างลดลงเหลือน้อยที่สุด UsableLabs Team เริ่มต้นวิจัยและพัฒนาซอฟต์แวร์ KnowledgeVolution (KV) เพื่อใช้ในการจัดการความรู้ออนไลน์ที่สอดคล้องกับลักษณะการใช้งานของทั้งผู้ใช้ชาวไทยทั้งในระดับบุคคลและสังคม

จากซอฟต์แวร์ KnowledgeVolution สามารถพัฒนาต่อยอดเป็นเว็บไซต์ GotoKnow.org Learners.in.th Researchers.in.th Share.psu.ac.th นอกเหนือจากนี้ได้แก่ Portal.in.th, Healthy.in.th  อันเป็นการทำงานที่อยากเห็นสังคมไทยอยู่ร่วมกันภายใต้สุขภาวะที่ยั่งยืน

"ความสำเร็จของเรามิได้ขึ้นอยู่กับความก้าวหน้าจากการพัฒนาซอฟต์แวร์และการประยุกต์ใช้ซอฟต์แวร์ที่เพิ่มขึ้นเท่านั้น แต่การที่ประชาชนไทยมีช่องทางในการเข้าถึงความรู้ประเภทต่าง ๆ มากยิ่งขึ้น โดยมีข้อจำกัดน้อยที่สุดในการเข้าถึงความรู้ ซึ่งในท้ายที่สุดแล้ว ความเท่าเทียมกันในสังคมไทย การที่ทุกคนในสังคมมีความรู้ ความเข้าใจ และสามารถใช้ชีวิตอยู่ในสังคมร่วมกันได้อย่างมีความสุข คือความสำเร็จของ UsableLabs"

UsableLabs is a special project involving the establishment of  a multi-purposed research unit in the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prince of Songkla University. UsableLabs has received funding from a variety of organizations including the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, the Thailand Research Fund  and the King Prajadhipok's Institute.

UsableLabs provides a wide range of informational and research services for academic researchers as well as the general public. Their website GotoKnow.org, one of the top 50 websites in Thailand, facilitates the exchange of knowledge between knowledge workers. Usablelabs also operates a number of other websites including: Researchers.in.th, an online community for TRF researchers; Learners.in.th, an online community for students in Thailand; Healthy.in.th, an alternative media site for news and information relating to health; Portal.in.th, an instant website management system whereby several government and non-profit organizations are able to maintain their corporate portal sites; and LightLex.com, an online dictionary that presents information in an innovative way. UsableLabs' research and development of  software and web-based services is  helping to reduce the digital divide in Thailand.

Usablelabs is headed by two of our instructors in the Faculty of Management Sciences.  The rest of the staff consists of   programmers, media specialists, graphic designers,  information science practitioners, public relation personnel and translators.
